| Quick Tour: Create your own map (3/9)
Besides downloading a map from Internet, it is also possible to create your own maps.
Any image in JPEG or GIF format to be used as a map.
The procedure is easy: first upload the map image to the phone using the file transfer utility, or store it onto the memory card.
Then choose New Map in the Map menu, select the image file and give the map a name.

Next, the map should be calibrated. This is done by placing two markers on the map at known coordinates. Using these two markers, nhGPS is able to determine the map's location, orientation and scale.
With the GPS connected, tap on the current location on the map. The dialog box will show the current coordinates; press OK to accept these.
Next, tap a known location on the map and enter its GPS coordinates. Or, with the GPS connected, start walking to another point and repeat the procedure used for the first calibration point.
Calibration markers can be edited afterwards by switching to Calibrate mode (in the Map menu).
